Hello, I am so glad you're here!

023A6499

I’m Julie Warkentin (she/her), a Registered Clinical Counsellor (RCC). I came into this vocation because of my own journey with anxiety and depression and the healing I experienced through therapy. The outflow of my own healing has developed a deep desire within myself to extend love and care to others, to have you feel less alone on your own journey. You can expect me to show up as a real person, where your raw honesty is welcome and will be met with care. I bring a nurturing presence that isn’t afraid to dive into the deep with you. I’ll hold you in both gentleness and strength as I empower you towards discovering more of who you are and the answers to the challenges you face. My passion is to journey with you in coming home to yourself, accepting your own humanness with compassion, and using your own strengths to bring about your desired change. I work with each client within their own unique needs and values. I will offer suggestions, and you can decide what feels right for you knowing you always have a choice. I don’t pretend to know all the answers, yet I come with open hands to have honest conversations together. I’m committed to facing the limitations of my own privilege and biases with openness and trust that when we can engage in this type of honesty together you will feel supported. When I’m not working you can typically find me nestled up with a good book, caring for my plants, playing games, hiking, or paddle boarding with my husband and two teens. If this feels good so far, I invite you to reach out for a free consultation call to explore if working with me feels like a good fit.

Areas of Practice

Therapeutic Approach

I resonate with Dr. Gabor Maté’s words, "we are wounded in relationships and we heal through relationships." With that in mind, I first seek to develop a safe and trusting relationship between the two of us, knowing that your sense of safety and trust in me is on your timeline, not mine. I bring a warm, nurturing, calm, and open presence to our sessions together, where there is freedom for each of us to be ourselves.

I believe it is important for us to not just do this work from a cognitive place but to integrate your whole self. This involves connecting to sensations and feelings in your body to support you in the healing you desire.

I have been trained in the following therapeutic approaches and integrate them into my therapeutic work through a trauma-informed lens:

  • Accelerated Experiential Dynamic Psychotherapy (AEDP)

  • Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR)

  • Internal Family Systems (IFS)

  • Ketamine-Assisted Therapy (KAT)

I have experienced firsthand in my own therapeutic journey the effectiveness of each of these modalities and highly value that I live out what I encourage you to try yourself.
