  • Consultation calls are a chance for us to get to know each other and to mutually decide if working together feels like the right fit. You can share what you’re seeking support for and what you hope to get out of our sessions. You can also ask me questions and hear about my therapeutic approach to see if I feel like a good fit for you. Feeling comfortable with whoever you see will help you feel safer in opening up to do this deeper work.

  • First sessions are where we start to build a relationship; getting to know each other, beginning to build trust and discussing what confidentiality looks like. You will be gently invited to bring awareness to feelings that are emerging and bodily sensations that are present. The goal is to build a foundation of safety and connection between us to support you in experiencing emotions, processing them and working towards a felt sense of relief and calm.

Sessions

I work with adult individuals, 18 years old and up.

Counselling sessions are 50-minutes in length and $140 per session. I’m available to meet you either in person in my office or online through the Jane App.

I also work with individuals who have counselling funded through the Crime Victims Assistance Program (CVAP), First Nations Health Authority (FNHA), and Insurance Corporation of British Columbia (ICBC). All sessions funded through these programs are directly billed by me to the program.

FAQ: Do you direct bill to my extended health insurance?

I don’t direct bill to extended health insurance plans but you can submit your receipt to your extended health plan for reimbursement if they cover sessions provided by a Registered Clinical Counsellor.

FAQ: How do I change or cancel my appointment?

I understand that unexpected events or illness can sometimes prevent you from attending your session. You can email me or log into the Jane App to reschedule or cancel up to 24 hours before your appointment. Please note that appointments changed or cancelled with less than 24 hours’ notice will be charged the full session fee.

FAQ: What if I don't know what to talk about?

That’s ok! It’s one thing to know you want support and it’s a whole other thing to show up in a therapy session and know where to start. You can trust that I come with curiosity and compassion to support you in navigating our time together.

FAQ: Why do Therapists ask where you feel things in your body?

Overwhelming or traumatic experiences can cause us to disconnect from ourselves as a form of self-protection. This can lead to feelings of dissociation, emotional numbness, and automatic responses such as a racing heartbeat, knee-jerk reactions, avoidance behaviours, and racing thoughts when we encounter stressful situations. Our nervous system can become stuck in a survival mode of fight, flight, freeze, or fawn, which can help us navigate a problem that may not require this type of response. To support you in rebuilding the connection between your brain and body and regulating your nervous system, I will get you to pay attention to feelings and sensations in your body. This can support you in feeling emotions, being curious about what may be informing your thoughts, and helping you reestablish safety and connection within yourself. This will support you in healing from what happened in the past, gain supportive tools, and feel more embodied and grounded in your present life.
